Project Overview
Basairai is an Android-native housing and flat-discovery platform engineered specifically for students and young professionals relocating to urban education hubs. Traditional housing hunts in Nepal involve broker fees, unverified phone numbers, and misleading adverts. Basairai provides verified geo-tagged listings, transparent amenities filters, and direct tenant-to-landlord communication without friction.
The Challenge & Problem
Real problem people faced, leaving their important classes, job, spending more than thousands every time they need to travel to different location, mental pressure. Even after these all they can not find desired space to live. No security provided, no agreement to keep records of rent increment.
The Engineering Solution
A clean mobile application with real-time room availability, verified lister profiles, map-based radius discovery, and offline caching for low-connectivity environments.
System Architecture
- MVVM Android architecture using Kotlin Coroutines & Flow
- Supabase for real-time room status
- Google Maps SDK with custom location clustering and route previews
- Cloud Functions for image moderation and spam prevention
Key Capabilities & Features

- Real-time filter by rent budget, location, and amenities (water, Wi-Fi, kitchen)
- Verified lister badges and direct encrypted contact once unlocked
- Bookmark and share rooms with prospective roommates
